BME Diversity Group – Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) project group
This group has been established by the West of England (WoE) LEP to help deliver its responsibilities on Race equality.
The group has been running since autumn 2013 and having expressed concerns about the WoE LEP Strategic plan not evidencing a full commitment to Race Equality or equalities in general. The group made its view known and also called on the WoE LEP to carry out an Equality Impact Assessment on its strategy.
An Equalities Impact Assessment (EqIA) has now been done, the BME Diversity group has since asked the LEP to ensure that there are clear actions attached to the EqIA so that progress can be monitored and change can be reported back on.
We wish to support the LEP to identify key areas where we can maximise improvement in Economic inclusion for BME communities in the West of England region that includes both employment and training opportunities.
We are currently seeking to support the LEP to run equalities training for its staff and partners.
Further developments will be updated on this page as they evolve.
